Agility Classes

Overview 

Agility is a fantastic sport that offers numerous benefits. It improves physical fitness, enhances coordination, and strengthens the bond between you and your dog. Engaging in agility helps develop mental sharpness and provides a fun outlet for energy.  We offer several different classes so whether you have a young dog, are new to agility, are looking for group training or would prefer 1:1 training, we have options to suit all needs. 

Agility

Beginners Agility class

This group class is the first step in starting agility. It is designed for those new to the sport, with no prior experience.

 It will provide your young dog / adult dog with essential skills and confidence needed for agility such as;

Rewards, motivation & play based training. 

Cues, handler focus & recall in social settings.

Start line waits. 

Stride regulation. 

Shadow handling & basic handling techniques.

Coordination, body awareness & balance. 

Tunnel games & wing work. 

Basic sequencing. 

Foundation skills in preparation for contact work.

This class is suitable for fully vaccinated sociable dogs over 8 months old.  There are no prerequisites to joining, we just ask that your dog is sociable and happy to work around other dogs and people. 

Intermediate Agility class

This group follows on from the Beginners class to introduce more comprehensive handling skills to navigate more advanced sequences. 

When your dog is competent in jumps and tunnel sequences, they will be introduced to contact work,  building skills to safely and confidently use an A frame, Dog walk and Seesaw.  We will cover;

Forward focus for independent jumps & tunnels. 

Directional cues.

Advanced handling techniques and agility manoeuvres.

    More advanced sequencing with larger courses. 

Fluent take off and collection on jumps. 

Running or 2o2o contact work, using a variety of contact equipment. 

Introduction to weaves. 

 

Dogs must have a reliable recall to move into this class. 

Advanced Agility class

This group follows on from the Intermediate class to continue your dog's agility training and take it to a higher level of skill; combining jumps and tunnel sequences with contacts and weaves. We will cover more advanced skills such as;

Obstacle discrimination.

Distance handling skills. 

Courses with mixed challenges and handling manoeuvres.

Classes are currently running on Friday afternoons

Beginners group - 1pm

Intermediate group - 2pm

Advanced group - 3pm 

All classes are £15 per session, charged monthly. 

Private Agility Training

Would you like to take up agility but have a reactive dog, a dog selective dog or a dog who is a

bit hesitant or overwhelmed in a group setting? Or maybe you would just prefer 1:1 coaching. 

Private agility sessions offer a safe and comfortable space for dog's and owners who thrive in a 1:1 setting. 

We'll work at your dog's pace, building confidence and skills in an enclosed field, without the distractions of group training. These sessions are perfect for working through anxieties, while still enjoying the benefits of agility training.  

Private sessions will cover all of the same content taught in our group training, from essential skills, to jumps and tunnels sequencing and contact work. 

How much are private sessions? 

Sessions can be 1:1 or shared with family/friends 

 

30 Minutes  - 1 Dog - £20

45 Minutes - 2 Dogs - £30

60 Minutes - 3 Dogs - £40

(Minimum of 4 sessions upon booking) 

Private sessions are available at on various days, between 10 am - 3pm

Where are classes held?

We conduct our classes in an outdoor setting to give your dog a realistic learning experience. By incorporating real-life distractions, we enhance your dogs learning process.

Our venue is a half acre fenced grass paddock, just outside St. Dennis village (PL26). 

Directions will be provided in your welcome email upon enrolment.
